Bleeding Woman

I was reading in Luke and came across a woman who was looking for a cure to her suffering. This woman had been subjected to bleeding for 12 years. I am sure we all know someone or have ourselves suffered with an unnamed incurable debilitating sickness or disease that no one can help us with. This woman was desperate for healing. The bible says she had gone to many doctors and had received no relief. I am sure she tried all the remedies, talked with her friends, went to the doctors, and most likely tired a variety of medicines. Nothing worked. She must have been so discouraged.  She might have even felt that God was punishing her.  It is human nature that when bad things happen to people for you to wonder what they did wrong to deserve it. I don’t want to focus on what was wrong with her I want to focus on what she did about it. I am sure she had heard the name Jesus and had seen the crowds. She may have even been following him for a while. By this time in her life she had tried so many things to get better that I doubt she even believed she could be healed. That is until she saw Jesus and watched him and followed him. I am not sure what changed in her heart that allowed her to believe that it was possible for her to be healed. My favorite part is that she didn’t go up to him and ask, she didn’t fall at his feet and beg, she just thought to reach out and touch him. The text says, “And a woman was there who had been subjected to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.” “She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped”.  Sometimes you may not have the words or the courage to ask or beg for your life to be different. Sometimes all it takes is the faith to reach out a hand. Jesus did not disappoint- as soon as she touched his cloak she was healed. Are you able to reach out your hand towards our savior and see what he heals in your life?
